How Many Kids Can One Celeb Adopt?

You speak as if there's some bar out there that mixes kids, garnishes them with cherries, serves 'em straight up and then cuts you off when you've had a few too many. Interestingly, some countries do indeed sort of work like that—sort of.

In fact, if Brangelina were to return to the origin country of at least one of their adopted kids (instead of Armenia or India, as is being recklessly gossiped about), they may have trouble adopting another...

And that country is Vietnam, home of Pax Thien. The child was adopted by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2007. Overall, Brangelina has six kids—three biological, three adopted.

According to adoption expert Nicole Witt of the Adoption Consultancy, Vietnam usually allows adoption only if there are five or fewer kids already in the prospective family's home. Then again, Witt adds, there's always a loophole in situations like this.

"These are rules for the youngest adoptable children," Witt explains. "If [Brangelina] came back and said they were willing to a adopt a 4-year-old, they may be more flexible."

Other countries have no problem with large families, Witt says. Ethiopia, home country of young Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt imposes no limits like that of Vietnam. "Ethiopia loves big families", Witt says.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head from the get-go!

Jon & Kate Plus 8 spectators talk much about how mom/wife Kate Gosselin might be letting fame get to her head. And that her desire to be in the spotlight and her husband's lack of desire for fame is one (just one) reason they're going through a rocky period. That's what they say.

So, it came as a bit of a surprise when Kate opened tonight's episode ("Kate's Birthday Surprise") addressing exactly that...

"My kids are the reason I have always done everything. My kids are the reason I laid on bed rest for 30 entire weeks. My kids are the reason that I wrote the books," she said in the first couch interview of the night, "and it's always about them. And, I know that it looks it's all about me all the time and whatever, but what you don't see is down deep inside it's a desperate desire to provide for my kids."

While Kate's book career is thriving, Jon's holding down the fort at home. But, does he sound comfortable in this role? He said, "So, now I'm like the stay-at-home dad thing and Kate's the career woman, so it's different for me. I think it's different for a guy. We're not moms, nor do we try to be."

He didn't sound like a happy camper to us, but when does he ever? Adding to the sadness was Kate talking about celebrating her birthday without her husband. "It was a little depressing, I guess," she said. "Jon's away, so it's kind of sad."

Kind of sad, indeed.

In the episode that followed ("Sun, Seashells and Scrapes"), Jon revealed that we'll be seeing a lot more of him and Kate sitting separately on that infamous couch of theirs for the interview segments of the show due to "busy schedules."

Dare we say it so soon? This train-wreck is actually starting to bum us out.

Just a month after introducing his new girlfriend Okasana Grigorieva on the red carpet Mel Gibson has announced the couple are expecting a baby. The Braveheart star shared the news during an appearance on US TV on Monday night.

When TV host Jay Leno questioned the star - who is in the middle of a multi-million divorce with his estranged wife Robyn - about reports Russia-born singer Okasana was pregnant, Mel replied: “This is true. We’re going to have a child.”

The Aussie actor, who already has seven children aged ten to 26, then joked. “I guess I’m octo-Mel.”

Though clearly happy to confirm the news, Mel gave away few details about the baby during his segment on the The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. When asked about the baby’s gender, he responded, “A human being, I think.”

The new arrival with be the second child for Okasana, who is signed to Mel’s record label Icon. The 39-year-old - who is reportedly in the third trimester of her pregnancy - already has a teenage son with former James Bond star Timothy Dalton.

During his appearance on the chat show, Mel also discussed the break down of his marriage, which he says ended three years ago. “These things happen. It’s unfortunate, it’s sad, but you know (Robyn) is an admirable woman - we’ve still got kids together. We’re friends.”

When pressed on what went wrong he replied: “Look. When it’s all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself. I’m to blame. If you’re inclined to judge, put it here.”

A source claims, “Shah Rukh had been approached by the banner to play the main villain in the most successful franchise of Bollywood – the Dhoom series and he has immediately given the nod. Last few days there has been a lot of buzz that Saif Ali Khan has signed the dotted line for the same role but it seems they were just plain rumors. The shooting of Dhoom 3 may start early next year. However, it is not yet clear who is going to direct the film as the original director of the film Sanjay Gadhvi after the first two films have moved out of the YRF camp.”

Well she has not lost on some plum projects but she has apparently lost a whooping 10 kilos of weight and is looking ravishing.

She says, Mine has been more of a mental struggle with weight. Earlier, I was obsessed with losing weight and if the results didn’t show up within the time frame I had set, I would give up.The day I changed my attitude, exercise became less about weight loss and more about keeping fit.”

However she is not interested to be a part of the size-zero trend, “Being fit is good. I don’t like it when everyone starts looking alike. I think we should celebrate being different. One shouldn’t follow something because it suits someone else. I would want to be fit, but then I also want people to accept me the way I am. Look at Salma Hayek… she is not the thinnest, but she is among the hottest. Personally speaking, what appeals to me is the Indian figure. It’s fantastic to experiment, but you need to maintain your style,” she adds.

Has Mallika Sherawat given a nude scene in her upcoming Hollywood film, Hissss is the first question that comes to mind after watching its trailer. Just recently, the first promo of the much in news anticipated Mallika Sherawat starrer Hissss is out and we must admit it does make for an interesting watch.

The promo gives the impression that it is a no nonsense thriller that is certainly not meant for the faint hearted as it has plenty of blood and gore. A surefire Adults Only certificate cannot be ruled out from Indian Censor Board.

The trailer shows Mallika Sherawat slithering in mud and becoming a deadly snake. She is shown covered in a body suit that fits her like second skin and during many times while watching the trailer it gives the impression that Mallika hasn’t worn anything.

There are sequences shown with many murders happening. In one scene Mallika is shown slithering up a tree and baring her fangs and shocks your wits. Then in another scene she is shown transformed into a helpless woman. Also seen in the trailer are the film’s other Indian stars, Irrfan Khan and Divya Dutta.

The plot of Hissss revolves around a snake woman played by Mallika Sherawat looking for revenge.

Irrfan and Divya Dutta play a couple and reportedly there is a very passionately shot love making scene between the two. The film appears high on special effects.

Following the first look unveiling of the film 'Kites' and a grand cocktail reception on 15th May, Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Rakesh Roshan along with Prasoon Joshi walked the red carpet to attend a screening of the Hollywood film 'Bright Star' directed by Jane Campion, who Hrithik is a fan of. For the evening, Barbara was dressed in a black Roberto Cavalli gown and Hrithik Roshan sported a tuxedo designed by Anaita Shroff Adajania.

For all of you thinking this is Jr. Roshan's first time on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, you stand corrected. This is in fact his second time. The first time was actually 14 years ago. Hrithik says, "I was here 14 years ago as an assistant to the Film Federation of India J Om Prakash, who was also my grandfather. Abhi-Ash to move house?

If industry rumours are to be believed, then Amitabh Bachchan has agreed to Abhishek and Aishwarya getting out of their family home and moving into Naivedya. We’ve also learnt that the Big B himself has taken a keen interest in decking up the new house located in Bandra. Abhi-Ash will reportedly be moving out of their Juhu residence as soon as they wrap up shooting for Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming film.

A source says, “There have been strong rumours that junior Bachchan and his wife Ash will be moving out of their house in Jalsa for a while now. But now the plan seems to be falling in place and their new address will be at Carter Road in Bandra where the Bachchans have constructed a sprawling bungalow which is under camera surveillance 24 hours a day. The Bachchans also have appointed 4-5 security guards at the bungalow. As soon as Abhi and Ash are through with their shooting for Raavan, they might shift into their new house and host a lavish grihapravesh (yagna done by Hindus before living in a new house). If everything goes well, this might happen by the start of next month.”

When contacted, Amitabh Bachchan remained tight-lipped about it. “I do not knowwhat you are talking about,” he stated.

Yashraj Films recently launched a website for its underproduction romantic comedy Pyaar Impossible.

Featuring Priyanka Chopra along with Uday Chopra, the film is all about how a next door geek woos a glamorous unattainable beauty.

But the buzz is that Pyaar Impossible might just be a rip off of Hollywood’s popular Julia Roberts - Hugh Grant starrer Notting Hill.

“It is not true. The only similarity it as that Notting Hill and Pyaar Impossible is that they are about a geek and an unattainable woman. Otherwise there Julia Roberts was a film star and here I am a normal ordinary girl,” says Bollywood Actress Priyanka Chopra.

Well we hope that the makers would be making some changes to the original plot! What’s more the story and screenplay of the film is actually written by Uday Chopra himself.

“It is Uday’s baby. He has also written it and has an insight of this film in a big way. It was great knowing Uday. I had not known him before. It was great working with him,” adds Bollywood Actress Priyanka Chopra.

But what in the world would make Priyanka Chopra do a film with strugglers Uday Chopra and Dino Morea at this stage in her career?

Aamir enjoys skiing lessons in Canada

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan who is globetrotting with his two children, got a chance to take skiing lessons in Canada, something that he thoroughly enjoyed and is recommending to everyone.

"Those of you who have the resources and ability to try out skiing please do so, it is absolutely one of the best things I have done in a long time," said Aamir.

According to the actor, it was his kids, son Junaid and daughter Ira who forced him to try the sport.

"Thanks to my persistent kids I ended up committing to a week of skiing, and I am glad I did. We were in Banff, a popular ski resort in Canada, a very warm and friendly place and great for skiing. Lovely slopes, very good facilities and great instructors. My kids have been there twice before, first time for me," he added.

Aamir who will be next seen in Rajkumar Hirani's Three Idiots had been working non-stop for the last two years and hence has taken a sabbatical for two months to holiday with his kids.

Gowariker to direct a film on Buddha

Ashutosh Gowariker will direct an English film based on the life of Lord Buddha to be produced by Spice Enfotaintment Ltd.

Spice Enfotaintment, headed by industrialist B K Modi, will invest Rs 200 crore for production of the film titled Buddha.

Incidentally, it was Gowariker who portrayed the ancient enlightened saint in Shyam Benegal's popular television series 'Discovery of India'.

Addressing a press conference, Gowariker said the script has been written by Oscar winner David Ward. The movie will go on floor on May 2010 and completed by end of the year.

The pre-production work for finalising the location, technicians and artists will begin this month, said the Lagaan director who is in the midst of giving finishing touches to his latest venture What's your Rashee.

He said Buddha will be shot in the foothills of Himalayas. Gowariker will only be directing the movie and not co-producing it.

Speaking about the movie's budget, he said it will according to the film's needs. "We will be filming an era which is far removed from today. Hence to re-create it will be an expensive proposition."

The noted filmmaker said Buddha will be his most challenging project till date. "Scope of Buddha is global as there are many countries who are interested in learning about Buddha and Buddhism."

About the star cast, Gowariker said, "There is a strong possibility that a foreign actor would play the role of Buddha. Nationality should not be a concern for this character, which is truly an international face. There will be many Indian actors also."

He expressed confidence that the film will be as huge and popular as Gandhi, the Oscar-winning film in which actor Sir Ben Kingsley played the role of the Father of the Nation.

Modi said apart from `Buddha' his company will be co-producing Anees Bazmee's No Problem with Anil Kapoor.

No Problem will be shot in Singapore wherein the city-state's government will share the production cost. Modi said his company will invest Rs 400 crore for both films - Buddha and No Problem. He said his company was looking at films, which have global appeal.

Fardeen Khan’s back to work

Reports said that Fardeen Khan was totally devastated by the death of his father Feroze Khan, a while back and had taken it really very badly.

In fact Ajay Devgan, the producer of his forthcoming film, gave him a few days off.

Now he’s recovered somewhat and is starting work again.

Currently he’s doing a film which has middle eastern influences. Something which his father did in a small way in ‘Qurbani’, ‘Janasheen’ and also some other roles he played.

In ‘Basra’ he shares screen space with Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna. It’s being produced by Nikhil Advani and directed by ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’ director Navdeep Singh.

The film is expected to go on the floors in a couple of weeks.

It’s set in the Iraqi town of Basra, from which it gets its title. The story deals with post 9/11 Iraq, with the US forces invading the country in their attempt to overthrow Saddam Hussein.

The music of the film scored by Kailash Kher will have a lot of Middle Eastern influences.

Fardeen hopefully is fully recovered and gives a great performance to make up a bit for the huge void in his life.

Hrithik Roshan has made news for a lip-lock again, this time with Latin co-star Barbara Mori in 'Kites'. But the actor says she helped him discard his inhibitions and they kissed like real-life couples.

'Why are we even talking about kissing? Is that such a big deal? Hasn't our cinema grown up? Yes, there're kissing scenes in the film, but nothing to make me squirm. In fact, I'd be more than happy and completely comfortable watching those kissing scenes with my wife, son and parents when the film is released,' Hrithik told IANS.

The star had scorched the headlines when he locked lips with Aishwarya Rai in 'Dhoom 2' and 'Jodhaa Akbar'.

Rationalising the need to look at lip-locking, Hrithik said: ' 'Kites' is a love story. It's about people in love. And what do people in love do to express their mutual feelings? In fact, it was Barbara Mori who made me realise how silly we look on screen while shying away from expressing love naturally.'

It happened while Hrithik and Barbara were shooting a tough and dangerous action sequence in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the US..

'We were both supposed to jump off from a rooftop at an impossible height. Before we did so our director Anurag Basu suggested I kiss Barbara since we were doing something death-defying and dangerous and potentially lethal. I reached out and kissed her on the cheeks.

'Barbara turned around to ask why I had kissed her on the cheek. 'Given the same situation with your real-life wife, Suzanne, would you kiss her on the cheek?' I was floored by her logic,' said Hrithik.

The take was repeated. 'And this time I kissed her the way real-life couples would in the situation. On the lips,' said Hrithik.
